Thank you Ontario and Canada, North America, for making our town as cognizant as a full scale city. We have, because you have given us, everything that a huge, full scale metropolitan center would have, yet we are a population of 10,000. You support us and we want in turn to support you.

Smiths Falls is a gorgeous, green, safe, friendly, industrious town with a population of 16,000, about a one hour drive from Ottawa, Ontario, the capital of Canada. You would have to see it, to believe how beautiful and unspoiled it is. Our town is historic and supports boat traffic and tourism via the lengendary Rideau Canal System, between Ottawa, Ontario and Kingston, Ontario. Our town boasts affordable housing, reasonably priced retail goods outlets (a Walmart, a Zellers and a Giant Tiger, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharma Plus, Canadian Tire, to mention a few), a variety of grocery and fresh produce, and amenities such as pharmacies, hydro, cable TV, internet, and cell phone towers. We enjoy toll-free telephone communication with Ottawa via the 613 area code. Roads and highways in and out of Smiths Falls are well maintained and safe. We have daily Greyhound bus access to our neighbouring towns of Carleton Place, Ottawa and Kingston. Our citizens are close knit, law abiding, family people, who have been here for generations. Agriculture is a very important industry in our vicinity. Murder and other abhorent crimes are almost unheard of here.

Businesses are self-made and handed down through generations. We live by trust, a firm handshake and word of mouth. You can always find a friend in Smiths Falls, someone who will help, someone who cares. We know each other, help each other and we enjoy a very comfortable quality of life which includes excellent medical and hospital care, primary and secondary schools, two police forces, (Ontario and Smith Falls Police Forces), fire prevention services, ambulance service, paramedic services, animal control services, and religious affiliations of many denominations.

Smith Falls would enjoy to be part of our Canadian government's endeavours and we feel that we could offer habitat and services to government employees. Our town does provide the services needed to uphold this type of endeavour. We are directly connected to Ottawa in many ways, telephone, internet and services, and our agricultural community would be bolstered by government offices in our environs. Our tourism initiatives would be complimented by a government which would remember the history of Canada.
